I'll be keeping tabs on you! :p

Best of luck. From my extensive YouTube viewing, I'd say, regular updates and keep things mixed up. i.e. Reviews, Songs, Opinions, Lessons.

I've no idea how the Youtubes works out how to rate your videos. (My Cinderella cover comes up 3rd in a search, over others with thousands of views, with only 300+. Feck knows why.....) The two things that seem to get people noticed are passion and enthusiasm. A good friend of mine has a successful channel he started as a hobby, on which he now makes more on some months than I do working a full time job.

    So, Passion, Enthusiasm and Humour.

Three things, the three main traits are... Ah feck it, get the soft cushions..... :p

    "New image ...
    New Prospective"

I can't decide whether "new prospective" means that you're the next possible CG Artist, or that you have a "New Perspective" (a new outlook) combined with a dodgy spell-checker.

    That, again ^^

Now, I know DICK about this stuff but id simply say that if you want to work for CG and indeed be an artist you're going to have to find a niche and run with it. As ive clearly stated, I know shit all about the CG artists (wait... is Dave McPherson still in with CG?) because that guy is totally unsung hero. Ive seen him live in Belfast, pre CG days. This guy slept in the airport before and after his date in Belfast because he couldnt afford accommodation. He just wanted to play the gig. He regularly does this just to be able to play live around the country. Now THATS dedication.

Anyway, I disgress... where was I *scans up a few lines* ah yes, be yourself. Do your own thing, play your own style, learn more theory (in your chosen line), try and get a steady supply of gear to review and demo. Even if its been done a million times already do it again with your own twist. Just, for the love of god, avoid the Waynes World style of presenting... PLEASE. Im sure I could continue, but I wont.

You know this is going to be a long slog. Hard work, dedication, passion, knowledge and solid foundations will help you on your way.

    Good luck.

Best of luck James! I think it's a great decision to rebrand under your actual name. Well done.

I think having multiple goals is a good thing, however and knowing your why. Why do you want to be a CG artist, and once you accomplish that goal, what next? What is it you are really searching for that you would ultimately find fulfilling creatively? Working with gear companies isn't a bad goal by any means, but that is a strictly business kind of relationship that may or may not actually be what you want, once you get there. I say that as someone who knows multiple people who became artists with various companies, and once achieving that, it wasn't what they expected or really deep down wanted.

Personally I think endorsement deals should be way down the goal list compared to say, finding your voice on the instrument, writing and releasing your own music, becoming the best musician you personally can be, generating x amount of income from music endeavors, etc.

Documenting the journey is an excellent angle to take however with content. Very Gary Vaynerchuk.
